About

This blog has been created to help victims of crimes to help each other as sure enough the authorities are either powerless to help or turn a blind eye. Our thanks go the the Cook Islands Police. Most of their officers are working hard against an ever growing problem and in spite of outdated legislation that seems to protect the offender and mock the victims.

  1. I was recently in the Cook Islands and I stayed in a private holiday home with my partner and another couple. On our second night on the beautiul island of Rarotonga, we went out for dinner and when we returned we noticed that the screen window above the kitchen had been removed. We lost $930.00, a bottle of Vodka and a medieval game called carcassonne (looks like a jigsaw puzzle). This put a damper on our holiday. The police were no help and when we went to the station later that week to get a report we met another couple who had been burgled as well. This other couple had $1600,00 in cash taken and an i-pad. They had been to Rarotonga three times and burgled twice. Crime is so obviously an issue in Rarotonga as theives target holiday homes and the belongings of tourists while they are swimming or suntanning. I would live to return to Rarotonga, but I think that the police need to really do something about the crime rate! It’s not a big place, surely police have suspects. While we were there four houses in a row got broken into and items and cash taken – that was in one night.
